With funding from the Arts Development Fund for Persons with Disabilities managed by the Social Welfare Department, our Agency commenced the “Portraying Yuen Long with Art” Project in 2021. The objectives of this project were to foster service users’ art talent and to use different means and activities of art expression as the media to deepen our connection with the community and promote integration between people with and people without disabilities. 

As a conclusion to the project, two variety show cum exhibition programmes telling the Yuen Long story were scheduled for 11 February 2023 and 25 March 2023 to showcase the learning of artists participating in the project. The first programme was held with success at Yuen Long Town Hall on 11 February 2023. We were glad to have the presence of Yuen Long District Social Welfare Officer Ms. Chan Lai Chu and Executive Secretary of Yuen Long Town Hall Mr. Li Sing Pak, BBS. 

In the programme, besides dance, drama and singing performances, there was the premiere of a mini-movie on love acted by service users, service users’ family members and staff. Some ceramic works and ornaments featuring Yuen Long’s specialities were exhibited outside the auditorium. They demonstrated service users’ rich creativity and art talent. 

The second programme to continue to tell the unique story of Yuen Long through different art media will be held at Christian Family Service Centre, Kwun Tong on 25 March 2023.
