2023.10.10 Wai Ji Joyful Aging Sports Day

The first “Wai Ji Joyful Aging Sports Day 2023” was held on 10 October 2023. Over 110 athletes participated in the event, with nearly 70% of them being 50 years old or above, and the eldest among all is 77. With the use of gerontechnology, people of different ages, disabilities, and physical impairments can engage in virtual and simulated sports competitions. In addition, competitions of new sports including boccia, cornhole, and mölkky were taken place for senior athletes to get involved and have fun.

The Agency is thrilled to have Mr. Yeung Tak Wah MH, JP, Vice President of the Hong Kong Sports Association for Persons with Intellectual Disability, and Professor Grace Szeto, a member of our Board of Directors and Acting Dean of the School of Medical and Health Sciences at Tung Wah College as the Officiating Guests of the Opening and Closing Ceremony respectively. The Torch Relay was held during the Opening and Closing Ceremonies to cheer up the athletes. We are glad to see all athletes actively joining the sports competitions, strengthening their physical functions through continuous training to unleash their potential.

Thanks to S.F. Express (Hong Kong) Limited, Tao Ti, FFG Charity Society, The Immigration Department Volunteer Work Team, and student volunteers from the Physiotherapy programme of Tung Wah College. We are grateful for your support in making this meaningful Sports Day a great success.
