2023.7.9 Wai Ji Sunday 2023: Joy in Adversity

Wai Ji Sunday 2023 was held at the Kowloon Union Church in the morning of Sunday, 9th July. This was the first face-to-face worship service taken since the outbreak of the epidemic, and a live broadcast was arranged to enable the participation of service users and staff at hostels.

The theme of the service was “Joy in Adversity”. More than 30 service users and staff delivered two hymns, “The Crown of the Cross” and “May Peace Be With You”. Miu Ling, a parent of our service user was invited to share her testimony of Faith on how the Lord bless her and her family with peace and joy in difficult times.

At the service, Prof. Cecilia Li, Chairperson of the Board of Directors, gave thanks for the 45th Anniversary of Wai Ji Christian Service. She prayed for the service users, their families, and the newly established Carers’ Fellowship will be a blessing to people with disabilities and intellectual disabilities, as well as their families.

Our director Rev. Phyllis Wong concluded the service with Matthew 11: "Joy does not mean that there is no difficulty, but we have high hopes in Jesus". After the service, participants of Wai Ji and fellow members of Kowloon Union Church had a love feast and all of us enjoyed the time together.
