2020/21 Annual General Meeting cum Staff Award Presentation Ceremony

2020/21 Annual General Meeting cum Staff Award Presentation Ceremony was held on 14 December 2021 at Kowloon Union Church. It was our honor to have Mr. Kok Che Leung, Deputy Director of Social Welfare (Service), as our officiating guest. At the ceremony, FAN, CHAN & Co. Limited was appointed to conduct audit work for our agency in 2021/22. A certificate of appreciation was presented to Mr. Simon S.H. Ip, J.P. for his voluntary work on providing legal advice to our agency. There were more than 100 attendees, including directors, members, guests, staff, parents and service users, participated in the event. Over 90% of the participants have received COVID-19 vaccine and we followed the social distancing measures and arrangements implemented by the Government.

Mr. Peter Leung, the new Chairperson of the board of directors of Wai Ji, expressed his appreciation to the staff for their efforts during the difficult period of the epidemic and did their best to take care of the service users in his speech. He also reported that the agency has a sound financial system and made good use of reserves to set up day service corners for elderly people with disabilities to meet the challenges of aging population. In the coming year, about 40 frontline staff will be hired to provide better caring services. Wai Ji will actively develop different kinds of vocational rehabilitation training projects, such as catering training etc., so that the service users who work in sheltered workshops or receive supported employment services can be equipped to obtain employment.

Mr. Kok Che Leung, Deputy Director of Social Welfare (Service), greatly appreciated that Wai Ji made good use of technology to continuously support private residential care homes for persons with disabilities through online trainings under the epidemic. He encouraged staff of Wai Ji continued to “Love, Care and Train” the service users, so that they got more “opportunity” to integrate in the society.

At the ceremony, staff representatives sang the hymn named “Beautiful Grace”. Awards including Long Service Award and Outstanding Staff Award were presented. We sincerely congratulate all the awardees. The event was brought to a perfect end under the blessing of Rev. Phyllis Wong.
