Respite Service

 

Length of the Service

Normally the maximum length of the service is fourteen days. The length is extendable in special cases.

 

 

Eligibility for the Service
  • People with intellectual disabilities (for our service-providing units except Yuen Long District Support Centre)
  • People with intellectual or other kinds of disabilities (for Yuen Long District Support Centre)
  • Priority will be given to families with urgent needs

Application Procedures
  • Eligible applicants can apply for the service directly or through a social worker of the Social Welfare Department or a social welfare organization.
  • The application must be submitted with a recent report on the health condition of the applicant as well as a psychological report and a case summary written by a social worker on the applicant.

Service Hours
  • Day Respite Service: 8:00 am - 6:00 pm*  (Monday to Friday, except public holidays) *The actual service hours of individual centres may vary
  • Residential Respite Service:24hr (Monday to Sunday)

 

 

Exit from the Service

Applications for exit from the service will be handled in accordance with our policy and procedures on service exit. Related information will be provided to the service user at the start of service provision
